About
Water Rocket is an aeronautical design and engineering problem, which is composed of designing and building a "rocket" using plastic bottles and card board fins that would be propelled by the means of pressure with water as the principle propellant.
Tournament Format
- Phase 1: Competency test - It is a general quiz round in which they would be tested with certain general physics questions with the last leg being them choosing material for their rocket. Participants need to qualify the quiz round for proceeding ahead.
- Phase 2: Construction Phase - It is the phase where they would have to construct their rocket. This phase lasts for 60 minutes with 30 minutes extra for the completion of their reports*.
- Phase 3: Launch - It is the phase where the rockets are launched. Each team's rocket would be launched 3 times and the best 2 would be considered.
- Phase 4: Shipwreck - The teams face each other, debating over superiority of their solutions and designs.
*The report must have a theoretical prediction of the trajectory of the rocket with the specified launch parameters and should meticulously state everything the team has used.
